How to Measure Your Room Before Ordering Furniture in Bangalore
The single biggest source of post-delivery regret: "I didn't realise it would be this big." This guide eliminates that.
Tools You Need
- A tape measure (5m is sufficient for most apartments)
- A pen and notebook, or a floor plan app (MagicPlan, RoomSketcher work well)
Step 1: Measure the Room
Measure length and width at the widest points. Also note:
- Door swing arcs - a 90cm door swings 90cm into the room
- Window sill heights - sofas placed under windows need to clear the sill
- Power socket positions - relevant for TV units and study desks
Step 2: Mark Out Circulation Space
Furniture placement needs these minimum clearances:
- Sofa to TV unit: 150–180cm (comfortable viewing distance for a 55" TV)
- Around dining table: 90cm minimum on all sides
- Beside bed: 60–75cm minimum for one side
Step 3: Use Masking Tape to Simulate Furniture
Before ordering, use masking tape on your floor to mark out the furniture footprint. Walk through it. Sit in a chair positioned at the sofa location. This takes 10 minutes and prevents weeks of regret.
Step 4: Share Dimensions When Ordering Custom
When you contact us for a custom furniture consultation, share:
- Room photos from each corner
- A rough sketch with dimensions
- Door/window positions
We'll send a designer to take a full measurement before production begins.
